About

I was born and raised outside of Philadelphia and have lived in the UK since I was a university student. I graduated from two excellent British universities (where I studied British histories), before moving to Copenhagen in 2014. There I began to pursue a career in food and food culture while working at the world-renowned restaurant noma for two years. There I worked closely behind the scenes (and outside of the kitchen) with chef and owner René Redzepi on a number of projects, events, and research. It was at noma that I started to understand the myriad ways in which food can be the vessel for understanding other people – both individuals and cultures.

When I left noma, at the end of 2016, I began my own food-focused magazine, Fare, which uses food to explore city culture, history, and community. Since then I have also worked as the Lead Researcher on the Netflix documentary series, “Chef’s Table”, and consulted on strategy and events with Michelin-starred chefs and award-winning festivals across Europe.

As of summer 2022, I am working on several new projects including the culmination of a major book project, and some exciting smaller-scale ideas. I’m always excited to discuss new ideas, so feel free to get in touch via: ben (at) faremag (dot) com.
